How To Fast Track Hazmat Program Approval
We all know in order to sell hazmat products via FBA, you need to apply to the hazmat program and likely wait 1 - 2+ years before you are even approved. However I personally fast-tracked my way into the hazmat program and a few other sellers that have followed my advice have done so as well. I will provide the entire process below but the TLDR of it is simply opening a case with support and telling them you are attempting to send some hazmat units into FBA, were previously approved for the program and now do not have any hazmat inventory space. I have seen this method work on multiple different accounts successfully. Process: Open a case with support and tell them you were previously approved for the Hazmat program in Canada (or whatever market you are trying to get approval) but you do not currently have any inventory space/allocation and you would like some space to start sending in the shipments. My exact messages with support from 2020
Me: When attempting to ship one unit of a hazmat item to FBA Canada, I get this error: “Your inventory storage limit has been exceeded”. I have been advised I am approved for the hazmat program but I do not have any available space to send FBA products to a hazmat warehouse. Please add storage space to my hazmat capabilities. Thank you. Support: Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,
Having read your email, I understand that you would like to increase the storage limit for your inventory.
In this case, we need some additional information from sellers to evaluate the request. Kindly provide the below mentioned details:
-Current Inventory Performance Index -Is the increase request for the Current Quarter or Next Quarter -Sort Type of increase (Standard/Oversize/Footwear/Apparel) -Current limit -Desired inventory limit (in cubic feet) -Reason for increase
We will evaluate requests for storage limit increases on a case-by-case basis. Please send us a written business case detailing why you need a storage limit increase for the upcoming quarter. However, note that we are generally not granting limit increases and encourage you to improve your inventory performance. Limits are automatically re-evaluated every quarter based on your IPI score at that time.
We request you to take this extra step and provide us with all the information needed so that, we can ensure that you get the correct resolution for your query.
Thank you for selling with Amazon Me: Hello,
This is for the ability to begin selling hazmat products via FBA in Canada.
Answers to your questions:
-Current Inventory Performance Index - IPI does not apply in Canada
-Is the increase request for the Current Quarter or Next Quarter - Current quarter, as soon as possible
-Sort Type of increase (Standard/Oversize/Footwear/Apparel) - Hazmat -Current limit - 0 -Desired inventory limit (in cubic feet) - As much as possible
-Reason for increase - I do not currently have any Hazmat space even though I am approved for the hazmat program.
Thank you Support: Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support, I understand that you would like to increase your storage limit. To help you with this, I have forwarded this issue to our internal team. Once we receive an update from them, we will get back to you with more information. Support: Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,
This is the follow up email with regarding that you would like to increase your hazmat storage limit.
Congratulations! You’re now enabled for the FBA Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) program CA. You now have a hazardous materials storage limit of 300 Units (Utilizing “0” Units).
DG (Hazmat) CA storage limit is specifically allocated for permitted marketplace CA. Allocation based on a Seller's active utilization and performance in each physical space. FBA Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) FC’s are specifically designed to safely process and store DG Hazmat inventory. This specialized storage space is limited (not Unlimited).
In the future, if you would like to request for storage limit increase to be considered beyond what is currently allocated- please contact Seller Support and provide complete proof of need (i.e. DG ASIN(s) & quantities of each intended to ship to FC, in addition to shipment plan(s), invoice(s), purchase order(s) etc.) Proof of need documentation, must be relevant and support Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) needs.
